a combo post

I'm just back from the "end of the year" work happy hour. In my job, the year "ends" with the start of school, since I'm in recruiting. It feels good to be done with the ridiculous stress, but now, at 10PM on a Friday night, I'm watching the Olympics after some liquid celebration with my colleagues, and I couldn't be happier, looking forward to a weekend of, well, nothing!

Booking through Thursday, a Day Late...

* Do you or have you ever read books about the Olympics? About sports in general?

Um, I don't think so. The last book about sports I read was a teenage book that involved a swimmer recommended by one of my school counselor profs.

* Fictional ones? Or non-fiction? Or both?

That particular book was fiction.

And, Second:

* Do you consider yourself a sports fan?

No, although I'm about to watch Michael Phelps swim the 100 fly. I was a swimmer, and care more about him in this Olympics that I've ever cared about anything. Ooh! He won. I love him.

* Because, of course, if you’re a rabid fan and read about sports constantly, there’s a logic there; if you hate sports and never read anything sports-related, that, too … but you don’t have to love sports to enjoy a good sports story.

True dat. I'll probs read Michael Phelp's bio. His mom is freakin' adorable.

* (Or a good sports movie, for that matter. Feel free to expand this into a discussion about “Friday Night Lights” or “The Natural” or whatever…)

The last sport movie I watched was probably Pride, the swimming moving about the inner city kids. I'm kind of a one-sport gal, I guess.

The Friday Five...more or less on time...

1. What did you last replace batteries for?
Umm. I could venture a guess, but I'm not 100% certain...
2. What have you thrown away that you probably could have had repaired?
Huh...I'm not much for repairs, but I also hate to throw out good things. I have my old lap top, which is painfully slow, and I've replaced, but I still have it.
3. Among items in your line of sight right now, what should probably be put in the trash?
Nothing, cause my honey cleaned the house today while I was at work!
4. When did you last use disposable cutlery while dining in your house?
Hmm...oh! Lunch today. Left over pad thai from my favorite restaurant, while at my desk, for breakfast.
5. Whose actions cause you to waste time you otherwise wouldn’t waste?
Hmm...I'm sure a lot of people. I'll blame my students, who drag their feet on completing financial aid paperwork, admission paperwork, res life paperwork, and immunization paperwork. If I didn't have to tell them each 50 times, I'd be much happier.
